Articles from Tamara's Adoption Mama Blog here:

Halloween is almost here…which means for a blogger…Christmas is almost here!

Over the years I have seen MANY toys come and go through my home. Most of them seem to turn into short term toys BUT not all of them end up this way. So I figured I would share what I consider to be a GOOD wish list by sharing my boys favorite, long lasting toys.

Below are my favorite top ten toys for boys that have stood the test of time….and the test of my boys.

A wish list of product tested and passed original toys for boys. They are fun, durable and worth checking out! Here is the Top Ten Toys for My Boys (ages 3 & 5)

Enjoy!

#1 Roylco Straws and Connectors Building Kit

My husband bought this toy for our boys last Christmas and I thought it was the dumbest toy ever…..I was wrong.

My boys LOVE this kit, they have so much fun using their imagination and creating the coolest things. From simple shapes, fishing rods to fancy mazes. The list goes on.

This kit can be bought in three different sets which subsequently come in three different price ranges.

Pack of 230 Pieces

Pack of 400 Pieces

Pack of 705 Pieces

#2 Angry Birds Go Telepods Pig Rock Raceway Set

This toy was given as a gift to friends of ours and my boys were ALL OVER IT! The nice thing is you can race two cars at a time so my boys play with it together. YAY!

I did buy a second set of cars however as I am a sucker for my boys and they tent to hold a car in each hand at all times. They have some great accessories and have a connect to the App feature as well (we did connect it but don’t let our boys play on the phone too much so this feature wasn’t a huge selling feature for us).

Extras:
Angry Birds Go! Telepods Kart Series 2 – Yellow Bird

Angry Birds Go! Telepods Kart Series 2 – Red Bird

#3 VTech Switch & Go Dinos

These Transformers are PERFECT for the younger fan. My boys are begging for these this Christmas and I will be putting these under the tree.

Both my 3 and 5 year old boys were loving this toy at a friends house and not once did they come to me to transform them – PERFECT!

VTech has large and small versions of these switch & go Dino’s.

Large:VTech Switch & Go Dinos – Brok the Brachiosaurus Dinosaur

Medium:VTech Switch & Go Dinos -Torr The Therizinosaurus Dinosaur

Small:VTech Switch & Go Dinos – Tonn the Stegosaurus Dinosaur

VTech Switch & Go Dinos – Sliver the T-Rex Dinosaur

#4 HEXBUG Bridge Battle Set

This Toy is a HUGE hit in our home for both my boys. They love the bugs and enjoy making different tracks. My only WARNING is to NOT buy the HEXBUG Nano V2 Barrel Roll Set if your children are younger. It comes with tubes that the bugs have a hard time getting up if they do not have full battery power. Let’s just say that was a huge headache I would rather have avoided!

Extras:
HEXBUG Nano, 5-Pack

20 HEXBUG-Compatible Batteries (cheapest I have ever found them!)

#5 Playmobil Turbo Racer

I have a soft spot for playmobil as it was a favorite of mine growing up and this toy is the one that got my boys hooked as well! It is kinda like an old school pull back toy except it comes with a launcher. Each of my boys have one and they enjoy racing these cars to see who wins.

Hours of fun with no batteries!

Need a second to race with? Playmobil Rocket Racer With Strong Pull-back Motor and Launch Ramp

#6 TOMY Constructables Motorized Building Vehicle Playset

This toy is a fun learning toy as it is easy to change from item to item but keeps the creativity flowing. PLUS it’s motorized!

We don’t own this one as my friend has it for her kids. My boys love going over there to play with it so I think it’s best we don’t buy this one but keep it as a fun toy at a friends house.

#7 24 Piece Tegu Magnetic Wooden Block Set, Jungle

This toy is another toy that my boys love playing with at friends homes. These wooden blocks may not look like much but they are so much fun….even for me!

They are magnetic and can be created into anything your imagination can think of.

Sold in Large sets (52 Piece) & Smaller sets (14 Piece) this is a great gift!

I am considering getting a set for our long airplanes rides to Grandma’s house.

#8 Hot Wheels Wall Tracks

My boys LOVE hotwheels…don’t most? I have to say that I was a tad worried about this one as it goes on the wall but after I set it up I realized they have a nice safety feature built in that saves your wall if say…your three year old has a tantrum and decides to rip it apart.

Yup….I said this list was tested! My walls are safe and the toy went back together in seconds.

Another cool feature is that you can add to the set which we did. My boys love these wall tracks.

Other Wall track options or add on’s:

Hot Wheels Wall Tracks Auto Motion Speedway

Hot Wheels Wall Tracks – Gorilla Takedown Track Set

#9 LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra Kids’ Learning Tablet

We are huge leappad fans. For one it keeps my kids off of my expensive phone. But the best part is really the games. They have AMAZING learning games for kids of all ages. Teo has the Leap pad one, Rome has the Leap pad two and if I had to buy a third I would jump right to the Leap pad ultra.

Why? because just as keeping up in technology is a must in our adult world sadly it seems to be in the children’s relm as well. Recently I went to download a fun new game for my son but couldn’t as it was only compatable with the newest model. Bummer! But that’s not to say they stopped creating or selling games that fit with the older models. YAY! There are plenty of games I could find for my son that still worked on the older model.

So if you wanted to save some coin you could look into the LeapFrog LeapPad2 Power Learning Tablet and it would still be a great gift!

#10 PlasmaCar Blue

We have a larger unfinished basement and very long winters. Throw my boys in the mix and I am desperate for some indoor “sweat it out” entertainment.

These plasma cars are it!

We painted the floor with cement paint to keep the dust down. The boys LOVE working off their energy zipping around in the basement.

Soon to be added will be some painters tape to create a racetrack. Hours of fun!

So that’s my boys top ten toys.

Of course that doesn’t include the traditional and still popular Lego & Wooden train tracks ;) We have buckets of these well loved toys!

Happy Shopping! If you found this post helpful care to share it for me on Pinterest?
